Not as well known as Vitamin C, but still equally as important, quercetin is a potent antioxidant, found in foods such as apples and onions, which acts as a natural antihistamine in the body, reducing inflammation and allergic symptoms.


Vitamin E

As another potent antioxidant, vitamin E helps to reduce the hyperactivity of mast cells implicated in the symptom presentation of allergic rhinitis. One double-blind placebo controlled study found that allergic rhinitis patients supplementing with 80mg per day of vitamin E reported lower nasal symptom scores when compared to the placebo group, making it a useful nutrient for patients suffering from seasonal rhinitis.


Bromelain

Bromelain is actually an enzyme found in pineapples! It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects in the body, decreasing mucosal inflammation in the nasal passages and improving breathing. Even more reason to love this delicious, sweet fruit.
